"Technology means pushing the envelope"

"I applied online to Modis in 2003 and was rejected. I was slightly irritated and phoned them to tell them I really was the man for the job. They responded like good sports and immediately invited me to an interview. To me this was proof that Modis Engineering loves technical people who do not allow themselves to be walked over."

''My first assignment was to produce a whole load of electrotechnical drawing work for a railway tunnel in Delft. In 2007 I was able to make the switch to drawing and designing electrotechnical systems for the shipbuilding industry. To me technology means pushing the envelope and keeping myself sharp. It also means thinking about problems and coming up with unorthodox solutions.''

Contributing to innovative projects

"Since then I have moved again, to industrial automation and, in particular, electrotechnical control technology. I'm getting as much experience as I can and I'm learning a great deal from companies and colleagues. The ultimate goal is to contribute, in the position of lead engineer, to innovative projects and I'm being given every opportunity to do so."
