Modis

Modis drives resource realignment process for City of Minneapolis.

Minneapolis has one of the most stable economic bases in the country, and includes global leaders within its broad, successful business community. In order to serve its community better, the City of Minneapolis designed a project to align data needs with business requirements. Modis provided project management for this engagement.

Modis’ project manager (PM) worked with a team from the City to analyze, prioritize and facilitate database changes. The PM documented, developed and published the data team’s project plan, data analysis documentation and data models/schemas for implementation. Deliverables for the scope of services included a detailed project plan for implementation of changes, summary of action Items, risks, technical & business requirements analysis and more.

Modis provided support consultants for critical Los Angeles Public Library project.

The Los Angeles Public Library is a system of 72 branches throughout the city, serving one of the largest and most diverse populations in the U.S. The library needed technical staff to perform HP NonStop (Tandem) platform-related services. One of the library’s major goals was to maintain delivery of electronic information services to the public, and this platform played a critical part in accomplishing that goal.

Included among these resources were more than 150 subscription research databases, eBooks, online reference services and the library’s own catalog of more than 6 million items. The library selected Modis as a prime vendor to provide the staff to support this contract. Our consultants played key roles in tackling the vital issues of the library’s website and extensive database access.

Modis has staffed multiple projects within the Department of Health and Human Services since 1996, including development and maintenance to current systems that impact multiple department programs, compliance initiatives and systems. Modis also contributed to the networking team that installed and supported the Department’s infrastructure. Below are examples of projects where Modis has provided extensive support to the Department:

  • Performed analysis, coded modifications and tested department-requested and federally mandated changes to the following systems: central registry, services information system, child welfare, foster care licensing, and day care licensing. Our consultants performed these modifications in a CSP/DB2 online environment with a COBOL II/DB2 batch environment.
  • Provided consultants that participated in the child welfare database reengineering while utilizing data normalization rules. The consultants retrofitted the new database design along with code enhancements into the current production system, gathered and analyzed state mandated requirements for integration into the day care licensing system, performed code modifications, coordinated system testing with clients, and supervised the migration to production. They also supported department systems and corrected any production problems.
