Modis Connects to the World of E-racing with Formula E

Formula E is at the forefront of e-mobility, powering the electric motorsports industry through technological innovation and energy efficiency. It is the only international auto-racing series in the world that uses electric cars.

The E-Prix will be in its fifth year for the 2018-2019 season with its first race in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. Season Five is a turning point for world-class electric racing with the debut of the new Generation 2 car.

But it's not all about the drivers when it comes to racing. The behind-the-scenes talent are key contributors towards a winning team. As the official Innovation Partner of Formula E, Modis powers talent potential in IT and engineering in the world of e-racing. The partnership combines sustainable technology and electric vehicle (EV) performance with future business opportunities. Modis has already made some great strides in their partnership by recognising the abilities of outstanding talent in e-racing.

The First Modis Formula E Innovation Manager

Modis kick-started their partnership with Formula E by introducing the Innovation Manager Challenge. The mission to find the next tech genius consists of a global opportunity attracting 2000 applications from over 60 countries. Modis connects talent to future careers, with Formula E as a gateway to e-mobility. This position involves a six-month internship at the Formula E headquarters in London under the Head of Technology, Eric Ernst.

The First Modis Formula E Innovation Manager is Barnee Lloyd, a 25-year old British software engineer. Lloyd got the opportunity to design and create a new software platform for the series, in time for the 2018/19 season. He will also gain experience in the pre-testing season as well as exposure to the opening races in December and January.

Modis, together with Formula E have also created an award recognising the excellent achievements of engineers who are transforming the motorsport industry. The winner of the Engineer of the Year award for 2018 is Leo Thomas, the Formula E Techeetah technical director. The award highlights his outstanding contribution to the team’s overall performance as well as his efforts towards team spirit.
